Jesus Being the I am

~~~~~ Bible Verses~~~~~
John 18:3 Then Judas, having gotten the cohort and some attendants from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with torches and lamps and weapons. (4) Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that were coming upon Him, went forth and said to them, Whom do you seek? (5) They answered Him, Jesus the Nazarene. He said to them, I am. And Judas also, who was betraying Him, was standing with them. (6) When therefore He said to them, I am, they drew back and fell to the ground.
~~~~~ Words of Ministry~~~~~

Judas, the false disciple, came with two kinds of peoplethe political and the religious. The soldiers were the political ones, and the deputies from the chief priests and Pharisees
were the religious ones. The religious circle worked with the political circle to put the Lord of life to death. However, they did not find the Lord; the Lord came to them. The soldiers did not come to the Lord and capture Him while He
was praying. No, Jesus went forth to meet them.

They were frightened when the Lord answered with this word I am, which is the meaning of the name Jehovah. This indicates that the One they came to arrest was Jehovah God. The name Jehovah means I Am that I Am. The Lord Jesus is the great I Am. In 8:24 the Lord had told the Jewish people, Unless you believe that I am, you shall die in your sins. In other words, if they did not believe that Jesus was
Jehovah, the very God, they would die in their sins. The Jewish people heard this, and when they heard it again, they fell down to the ground with fright.

If He had been unwilling to die, no one could have captured Him. All He had to do was speak one word and His captors would have been dead. How could they have seized Him if He
were unwilling to be captured? This proves that the Lord is the Lord of life and that He was willing to die in order to release Himself as life.

BIBLE DICTIONARY - JEHOVAH
The covenant or proper name of the God of Israel. It denotes the Unchangeable One, the eternal I AM (Ex. 6: 3; Ps. 83: 18; Isa. 12: 2; Isa. 26: 4). The original pronunciation of this name has possibly been lost, as the Jews, in reading, never mentioned it, but substituted one of the other names of God, usually Adonai. Probably it was pronounced Jahveh, or Yahveh. In the KJV, the Jewish custom has been followed, and the name is generally denoted by LORD or GOD, printed in small capitals.
Jehovah is the premortal Jesus Christ and came to earth being born of Mary. This can be demonstrated by comparing verses describing Jehovah of the Old Testament with verses describing Jesus Christ in the New Testament.

Jesus Christ / Jehovah - was with the Father in the beginning. This distinct member of the Godhead came forth from the Father; came forth from heaven. The Father gave him glory and authority before the world was. Jehovah was foreordained to be the God of Israel, the Savior, the Redeemer, the Lamb of God.
John 1: 1 (1 Jn. 1: 1; 1 Jn. 5: 7) In the beginning was the Word . . . and the Word was God.
John 3: 13 no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man.
John 6: 62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before.
John 16: 28 I came forth from the Father.
John 17: 5 glorify thou me . . . with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
1 Peter 1:19-20 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, ...

(God the Father has delegated all power and authority to Jesus Christ. God the Father loved Jehovah, the firstborn spirit and the beginning of the creation of God, before the foundation of the world.)

John 17: 24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
Ps. 89: 27 I will make him my firstborn.
Isa. 41: 4 I the Lord, the first.
Heb. 1: 6 he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world.
Rev. 1: 11 (Rev. 22: 13) I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last.
Rev. 3: 14 the Amen . . . the beginning of the creation of God.

(We learn from the scriptures that have been given that there are three separate persons in the Godhead: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. However, we know that these three personages are one. See Gospel of St. John Ch. 17)

(Christ/Jehovah)Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (Heb. 1: 3)
